For the theme of "identity" I started off thinking about people's identity and more importantly, my own identity. I brainstormed ideas about what kind of things define me but then I thought that for the last project, I wanted to do something special. So after thinking about it a little bit longer, I decided that identity can also be described as how a group of people are defined. Therefore, for the final project themed identity, I decided to make my project a photo collage of the "Identity of Apex High.'
This is a picture of the final project. I ended up mounting it on gold construction paper to bring out the colors of the words. To begin this project, I went around the school to take pictures of things I thought represented Apex. that meant things such as the cut, the cow, football field, cafeteria, and courtyard. While I arranged them in this collage, I thought about the one thing that Apex is most known for and that's being the Peak. So I decided to dull the color intensity of the background pictures and insert the gold text that says Peak.
My art communicates my ideas well because this is what I think of when someone says Apex High and I think other people would agree. these pictures describe what Apex is all about and I think it portrays that really well. I also think this went along really well with the theme of identity because instead of focusing on a single person's identity, this project was more about the identity of a place/ group of people which is just as important.
